MARK + FOLD X MARMOR PAPERIE
Set of 3 A5 Notebooks
Set of 3 A5 special edition notebooks with original hand-marbled covers in vivid shades of blue and neon orange to inspire your summer projects and adventures. Each contains 120gsm fountain pen friendly pages. Made in the UK.
The three marbled designs displayed on each of the covers were developed in a collaborative marbling session between Amy of Mark+Fold and Marmor Paperie's founder Lucy - from a starting inspiration of swimming pool armbands and bright summery nostalgia, Lucy experimented with many different combinations of patterns and colours, eventually arriving on this trio. The three designs all speak to that first watery inspiration but also demonstrate the brilliant breadth of effects that can be achieved with marbling. Our collaboration with Mark+Fold comes as both businesses enter their tenth year. Marmor Paperie's founder, Lucy, has been a big fan of Mark+Fold since it was started and over the years, has become good friends with its founder, Amy.

ROCKPOOL
Reminiscent of light dancing in water and ripples on a shallow pool, this design is a classic Spanish Wave, created by carefully rocking the paper as it is laid onto the floating paint of the marbling bath to create a fascinating illusion of depth. We used neon-bright orange in the veining to add a pop of colour.
Wave
One of the most traditional and recognisable European marbled patterns, this design is known as 'French Curl', featuring fine combing across the paper, with elegant little spirals drawn over the top, pulling the lines of paint into beautiful motifs that are fractal-like in their detail. The way the combed lines are pulled into the curls is very reminiscent of crashing waves especially with the four shades of blue used in the paper.
Tide
Evoking that feeling of sitting on the water's edge, watching the reflections on a gently rippling ocean, this pattern is one of the old Turkish classics, the 'git gel'. It is created by drawing parallel lines through the marbling water. We updated this design by placing the paint in bullseyes using droppers, so that the end result would be bold, thick swathes of colour.
