Winner of the Cockpit Arts / NADFAS Award 2016!

Posted by Lucy McGrath on

I am completely over the moon to announce that I have been awarded the 2016 Cockpit Arts / NADFAS Award!!

NADFAS, the National Association for Decorative and Fine Arts Societies, is a leading arts charity which works to advance decorative and fine arts education and appreciation, alongside promoting the conservation of artistic heritage in the UK.

The Award focusses on supporting practitioners of heritage crafts that are at risk of dying out – NADFAS provides funds for these practitioners to have their own studio space in awesome crafts incubator Cockpit Arts for a year, including a full programme of mentoring and business support.

For me, this is HUGE. It’s more than just the financial assistance or business support – its the boost of confidence and purpose I’ve had from this. An organisation like NADFAS choosing to believe and invest in my vision and my skills – and having the support of Cockpit to back it up – I feel like I am at the start of something pretty great.

I sold my first marbled journal in November and, just eight months later, have been given this opportunity to make my passion into my livelihood – amazing.

I hope you’ll follow me on what looks to be a pretty crazy (but exciting) journey!
